The Range Rover story begins in 1970, with the release of the original Land Rover Range Rover built with inspiration from the original 1969 Range Rover prototypes, and it's with the 26 pre-production Range Rover models that the luxury SUV came to life. But Land Rover had to keep things a secret in advance of the big show, which is why it had to hide them from the world with a Latin-derived moniker: "velare," meaning to veil or cover, became Velar, and the word stuck in the minds of Land Rover's development experts.

And so, we come to today. Looking to fill a middle ground between the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport replete with design innovation opportunities, Land Rover decided for good and all to build its Range Rover Velar. We won't know much for a little while yet, but what we do know is that the SUV's going to be minimalist in design and make use of sustainable materials while continuing to deliver on the advanced engineering we've all come to expect from the Range Rover line.
While we await Velar, a host of brand-new 2017 Range Rover Evoque and Sport vehicles call Land RoverNashville home. Why not stop by our Brentwood, TN showroom from Nashville, Franklin, Hendersonville, Smyrna or environs for a test drive today?
